Double BTCC Podium for Collard at Oulton Park
Rob had a successful weekend at Oulton Park, scooping up two podium finishes in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, his best result so far from the 2014 campaign.
He performed well in Saturday’s qualifying, setting the fourth fastest overall time, ultimately lining up on the second row of the grid. A great start off the line saw Rob move up into second place, and within touching distance of his teammate Colin Turkington. Rob held on for the entire 12 lap race to take his first podium of the weekend and, his best result of the year so far, securing an impressive one-two for the Ebay Motors team.
For the second race Rob got off the line well and his momentum from the earlier race continued, he drove superbly to take his second podium place finish of the weekend.
A last minute downpour meant that the final race of the weekend happened in extremely wet conditions. Rob got off the line well in sixth place and set about making his way through the field and was running in third place when a tap from behind by the charging Jason Plato, sent him into a spin and he was forced down the order. Despite his best efforts to recover Rob could do no more than 11th at the flag.
“Rob Collard, Ebay Motors. “I was very happy to secure my best result of the year with a second place finish in the first two races at Oulton Park. The final race was a disappointment. I was running in third when I felt a tap from behind which forced me into a spin, and I lost position. Had that not happened a further podium was in sight. I'm really pleased for the Ebay Motors team as we had a great weekend overall. We are now first in the teams and independent teams standings, and I have moved into third in the independent drivers standings. So it was a good weekend, and one we can build on.”
