Ricky Collard - 2014 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain Scholarship Class Runner Up after Superb Rookie Season

Ricky Collard has some exciting options for next year after securing his place in the record books finishing runner up in the Scholarship class of the 2014 British Formula Ford Championship at Brands Hatch in Kent on Sunday (12 Oct).

Ricky started the weekend with intent, setting the third-quickest time in the dying moments of qualifying to line up on the second row of the grid.

In the Duo-backed Falcon Motorsports Mygale Ricky headed out to the grid for the first race of the weekend. Making an excellent start from third, Ricky was up into second overall by the end of the second lap. Despite a safety car period Ricky held on to cross the line behind team-mate Harrison Scott and take the Scholarship class win to equal his best result of the season.

A battle royal commenced in the second race on Sunday morning. Ricky made his way onto the damp drying track electing to start on slick tyres. Ricky showed determination, and talent to drive superbly to bring the car home third in class and take the final podium slot in the penultimate race.

Ricky continued to show the talent he has demonstrated all year with a fantastic performance during the final race of the year. He made another perfect move off the line despite the tricky conditions on track. He defended well and battled hard to take his third podium finish to claim the final rostrum prize to wrap up his impressive rookie year.

Ricky finishes the season second in the Scholarship standings with 444 points and seventh overall.

“I have to thank Falcon for the opportunity to drive for them this year; they have done a great job for me. My sponsor Duo has also been incredibly supportive. It’s been tough at times but overall it has been a really good year and I am delighted to finish the season on a high.”
