Solid Points Haul at Thruxton for Ricky
The latest rounds of the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain took place at Thruxton in Hampshire and Ricky was in action once again with Falcon Motorport.
Ricky endured a frustrating qualifying session after struggling for speed and had to settle for an overall seventh place starting position on the grid putting him on the back foot for the weekend from the off.
His frustrations continued into Saturday when he unfortunately got caught up in a first lap incident, which caused damage to his nose cone. After a trip to the pits at the midway point Ricky pushed on but had lost several positions on track. Despite his best efforts, he crossed the line ninth overall and fourth in class.
Ricky performed well on track in the final two races of the weekend on Sunday taking two-second place class finishes despite struggling for pace. He nevertheless secured a strong points haul and is now second in the championship standings.
“Qualifying was not great and makes it very difficult to get a result from the weekend. In the first race, I had to pit after getting caught up in incident on track and lost position. We used the final two races as damage limitation so to come away with two class podiums was a better result that we could have hoped for. I’m disappointed, but it’s racing, some weeks go better than others. It’s still early in the season, and we are learning all the time.”
Ricky is now second in the championship with 134 points.
