Tough weekend at Rockingham for Rob in BTCC
After a strong points-scoring performance two week’s ago at Knockhill, Rob headed to the latest round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship round at Rockingham full of expectation.
His hopes hit a stumbling block in qualifying when he was only able to secure 16th on the grid for Sunday’s first race. Rob struggled to find the ideal set up and lacked strong pace throughout the 18-lap race. He made a good start and moved up the order to finally cross the line in 11th position. Rob was able to make an improvement in the second race and finished in a points scoring ninth position at the flag. A strong performance in the final race of the weekend saw Rob cross the line in sixth. He currently lies fifth in the championship standings with two rounds to go.
He will now head to the next round at Silverstone looking for a strong showing to reflect his solid season.
“We struggled with the balance of the car in qualifying, but I thought we could get something out of the weekend. The team worked hard to improve the set up, but we were a little on the back foot and that hurt us. It was a case of finishing as high up the order as we could. I’m disappointed that we did not have the level of success that we have enjoyed recently. “
